SixStringz RC Airplanes | Electric RC Airplanes | IC and Electric Radio Controlled Model Airplanes

Welcome to SixStringz RC Airplanes. Nothing fancy here as I really don't have much free time to myself and whatever time I manage to eek out I would rather spend building or flying than sitting in front of a computer (I spend enough time there as it is).

I have thrown up a few quick pictures of some of my planes and projects and will continue to post content as time/motivation permits. Most of the content here is electric as it is all I can do to grab a plane and head to a local park to get a quick hour of stick time in here and there. I hope to dust off some of my glow planes and head to the local flying field soon, but who knows... You probably found this site by using Google or some other search engine so I hope there is a picture or some info that is helpful to you in some way.

Notes: I started this project a few years ago, but after framing everything up put it on hold when we moved into our new home. I am about ready to pick up where I left off. I originally planned on using the M100 and Qualcoms, but I am now looking into a Brushless/Lithium-Polymer setup. I will post more pics and info as soon as I resume work on this baby.

Little Bigger Tiny
Manufacturer:  Todd Long Design / Scratch built and enlarged
 Type:  Electric Aerobatic Slow Flyer
 Length:
 Wing Span:
 Wing Area:
 Weight:
 Motor/ESC:  Astro Flight 010 16-Turn Geared
Cells:  3S Kokam 1200 Litium Polymer
 Propeller:  9x6 APC-E
 RC Gear:  Hitech 555 receiver and 2 HS55, 1 HS50 servos
Notes: Built from enlarged plans, the M100 and Qualcomms originally powered this Tiny but I did not get the performance I was looking for. It was just too heavy for the M100 motor. The plane was set aside until another motor could be fitted I recently dusted off the airframe and made a few quick mods. The plane is not sporting an Astro 10 w/gearbox and I am using both 3S/1200 and 3s/1500 Lipoly packs. I dialed back the throws a bunch and I am using this plane as a trainer to teach my 10 year old to fly. It is a bit hot for a trainer, but he has a good amount of stick time on RealFlight and has been doing great with the Tiny.
Adrian Page Newbie
 Manufacturer:  Plans from Adrian Page
Type:  Scratch from Plans / Fun Fly
 Length:
 Wing Span:  50 in.
 Wing Area:
 Weight:  3 Pounds
 Motor:  Magnum .26 4-stroke
 Cells:  N/A
 Propeller:
 RC Gear:  Hitec Super-Slim
Notes: Scratch built from Adrian Page plans and covered in Monokote, this plane is a lot of fun. I originally built the plane with a Magnum 4-stroke, but the engine gave me nothing but problems. I later installed a Magnum .28 2-stroke and although it provided sufficient power, I missed the sound of the little 4-stroker, so in went the OS .26. Much better! This plane is a blast to fly and does all kinds of goofy aerobatics. It always draws a lot of comments at the field.
"Liberator" - House of Balsa AT6 Texan
 Manufacturer:  House of Balsa
Type:  Kit / Club Pylon Racer
 Length:  29.3 in.
 Wing Span:  44 in.
 Wing Area:  319 sq. in.
 Weight:
 Motor:  O.S. 25 FP
 Cells:  N/A
 Propeller:  8x6
 RC Gear:
Notes:I originally built this airplane to participate in the local club (SGVRCL) pylon races. It flies great and is pretty quick even with the FP engine (required to participate in the races). I covered it in Monokote and created the graphics using Photoshop and my inkjet printer.
